How much do you pay?

a babysitter to watch a 9 year old and a 4 year old for 3-4 hours?

  • The going rate for one around here is $5. For 2, I'd probably offer $7.50 an hour.

  • It really depends on your area. You can get ideas of what the going rate is at You will see job postings and people looking for jobs. I am near DC and rates are $10 and up per hour.

  • Probably $30-40. On the lower end of the range for a younger teenager watching them, the higher end for an older, more experienced babysitter.

  • Here child care is usually under $3 an hour, so $6 would be "good money" here, but it depends on your area.
