How often do you spend money for your kids' entertainment????

How regularly do you pay money to get into places for their entertainment/fun?

What kinds of things do you do, or things you can think of doing that don't cost anything that would be fun and entertaining to children?

  • 2 to 3 times a week. Today I'm taking them to a waterpark. Earlier in the week I took them to Monkey Joes (bounce house place). I take them any place where they can expend some energy :)

  • *Normally* we do free or VERY inexpensive things. Like Playgrounds(Free), McDonalds Playground and buy a smoothie($6), watch a little league game(Free), dollar theater (2.50 each-no snacks), redbox($1), one of the jump places($5 a kid), State Park Lake to swim($5 to park), Walk around the mall(free-unless we stay to eat), One of the public fountains to play(Free), Walk around the nature reserve($3 to park), visit friends(free)...

  • Is that a regular thing for you to do 2-3 times a week or is that just this week?

  • We almost never pay for entertainment - for us or the kids. We did take them to a dairy farm last week that cost us $4 a person. We also bought a zoo membership in the middle of the season that we will also use this year (so we will purchase a new one every 2 years). Other then that, we don't do much. Occasionally we go out to eat (every few months). Otherwise we are all about free entertainment!! Play outside, go to a park, ride bikes, play games, read books, watch movies (oh yeah, we recently got netflix for $10 a month), etc.

  • But we also go to the free places too....like playgrounds, outdoor water play areas. I'm in S. FL so sometimes it's so hot you just need to be some place indoors.

  • Normally, on a weekly basis, nada. We have a Wii that we bought 2 years ago, we have a Netflis subscription so they can watch all the movies they want (streamed through the Wii so they watch on the TV). Every summer we get a family pass to the pool so we pay once, go almost daily. We don't live anywhere near any waterparks, zoos, anything like that, so those are treats, once a year if we're lucky. So...I spend almost nothing on childrens entertainment.

  • We spend money on her entertainment once a week. Other things you can do are parks, museums (they almost always have at least one day a month free mark your calendar and enjoy), nature centers, arboretums, hikes, playing in the yard, gardening, baking, making playdough, water or sand play outside, and lots more!
