How many snacks do you let your kids have in a day? What kinds of snacks do you give them too? Do you let them have the food at reach or do they have to ask you first?

  • My son gets maybe one snack a day. Its usually either like a banana, apple, strawberries, raisins, cheese, crackers, a nutri-grain bar, or a piece of bread. He loves just plain bread. He's only 2 so he has to ask first, but I have to watch because he can and will climb up onto the counters to reach whatever he wants!!

  • The most mine get is two snacks a day. I try to space meals out so they are hungry at mealtime and not in between. If we have a very early morning they get a small snack a couple hours before lunch. Or if we have an early dinner they get a snack before bed. Snacks at our house are usually something healthy like fruit, yogurt, homemade granola bars, trail mix, or veggies. Sometime they do get cookies or chips but we really try to limit those. Every family is different. I hope this helps

  • How funny because there for awhile my now 6yr. would love bread with mayo only and he would want more then one. You know what the kids like alot is if you make a fruit salad mix all those fruits together and then give them each a fork and they just eat it up. We go out side and have the salad and they like it more lol... The gold fish too. Oh and cheese they love cheese..

  • My five year old has several snacks a day. Pretty much, if she has eaten her entire meal and it is not close to another meal, she can have a healthy snacks. Snacks are normally string cheese, yogurt, fruit (she really likes bananas, grapes, and apples), carrots, celery, crackers, pretzels, granola bars. Her favorite snack is "gummies" which are fruit snacks, but those are really more of a treat. She gets one packet of fruit snacks a day tops and only after she's had lots of fruits and veggies. She also really likes popcorn; we buy the light microwave kind and typically it is a special treat.

  • My children are 10 and 8. They are required to bring in a healthy snack to school everyday. They will have a snack when they get home from school and maybe one more depending on its size. To make it easy on myself, and to give the children healthy snacks they can choose, I have a large basket by the front door with an assortment of healthy snacks. Before they get on the bus, they make their choice which makes them fell very grown up. Plus they get variety.
