What kind of detergent do you use for your cloth diapers?

Does it matter what you use? I have Tide I use on clothes at home. Is it bad to use that?

  • don't use Tide, it'll ruin your diapers. The brighteners leave a film on them, making them less absorbent. I used Country Save(& no softeners), bought it at a cloth diapering store. Join one of the cloth diaper stores on cafemom to find out what other moms use.

  • I used sun free&clear detergent and it worked fine, detergents with dyes, colors and scents ruin cloth diapers. You can get sun really cheap pretty much anywhere, good luck!

  • I use and have used Purex free and clear on everything for my boys and my husband and I and have had no problems with allergies or anything of that sort
