Reading or writing ABC's first?

What is your opinion?  So we have the ABC's down!  WHOO HOO!  So what's next?  Any advice?  Should I start teaching reading or should I start teaching how to write the ABC's and THEN reading?

  • Start with writing the letters. There are tracing sheets you can use and all sorts of acctivities. The best way to foster good reading skills is to read to your child often, which I assume you do. That is the number one way to have a good reader. enjoy!

  • Writing, because thats the order they will learn in school, first they write then read. Good luck

  • I was thinking the same thing!  I just wanted to make sure and get some opinions.  I read to them but it seems like they aren't quite ready to read on their own but I don't want the learning to stop either.  Onto writing the ABC's, lol.
