Potty-training tips, how do you get them to go #2?

She's just started using the big girl potty and is doing fine peeing, but hasn't had a bowel movement on the toilet. She's still using her diapers at night and has a FULL diaper in the morning. Any tips?

  • Take her to the potty every so often, maybe once a hour. Watch her closely for signs she will be going (changes in her face, stopping watch she is doing, etc) and take her. Maybe have a reward for her. Staying dry at night ranges all over the place for kids. I know kids who were 6, 8, even 10 before they were dry at night. It is a maturation issue. Keep her in night time pullups and don't put any pressure on her. It will happen eventually. My niece took her kids out of the nightime diapers once they went one week being dry. GL

  • going poop in the potty takes longer then going pee; be consistent and remind them of going in the potty; watch for tell tale signs--hiding things like that good luck and God Bless
