Moms of girls please answer

I saw some shorts at Target yesterday for little girls. They had an inseam of what couldn't be more than and inch!
Do you allow your daughter to wear shorts this short?
The sizes started at a 4/5. They were a low rise as well
Do you feel clothes like this are appropriate? Do you feel its sending a negative message to allow girls that are practically still babies to dress this scantily?

  • No I do not allow my daughters to wear anything that is suggestive in any way. I think they'd be embarrassed anyway at this point if I bought them a pair of short shorts; I can hear my 9-year old now..."but mom, I feel like my fanny is showing!" LOL. We're fairly modest and I hope all the groundwork I've laid in this area will carry through to their *gulp* teen years.

  • if her butt is hanging out.. top or bottom.. its not okay... and they cant be just under the butt.. they have to have at LEAST an inch or more of fabric to cover her butt.. were raising little ladies not little strippers...

  • I don't have girls but if I did I wouldn't let them dress like little hookers.

  • i don't but short shorts for my dd (she's 4) and since she is tall, the "normal length" sorts are short on her anyway so the ones you talked about would be like panties on her....i buy the bermuda shorts for her or if i can find some that are a little longer than mid thigh, i get those too

  • I would not allow my daughters to wear short shorts or short skirts. My oldest is 4 but still fits in toddler sizes thank god because the clothes in the girls sections are horrible.

  • DD is 5 and wears 4/5 clothes...I would NEVER, EVER, put her in shorts (or anything actually) that made her look like a skanky hooker. And if she tried to dress that way, I'd make sure she wore nothing but Amish dresses for a month.

    I'm such a horrid mom...heeheee!

  • We are very careful about how we dress our DD, no shorts, skirts or dresses that are more than an inch or two above the knee, no bikinis, no strapless tops, and we put t-shirts under spagetti straps when we go in public. I want my DD to look like a little girl, not a grown woman.

  • Yeah, my DDs won't be dressing like this until they are out of the house, and even then I better not see it! lol

  • I have a ten year old and am very particular about what she wears. I would not put alot of the stuff in the stores these days on my daughter.
