What would you do if your 18 yr old comes home and tells you this about the schools lunch room

my daughter is in the 12th grade and my son is in kindergarden and they go to the same school it is K-12 all in one building.
so she tells me how her English teacher went down to the lunch room after it was closed and turn on the light and bugs scattered everywhere and there were silver fish wiggling all around as well. I was mortified and told her I was going to call the health dept. she said not to to let the janitors take care of it.

In the morning I am calling the health dept.

  • Janitors can't handle a huge bug infestation. An exterminator needs to be called. Only special methods of bug removal can be used around food like that, though :S

  • I would call the health department first thing in the morning, and be packing my kids lunch from here on out if you are not already.

  • I'd also call the health department. If she doesn't want you to, perhaps she's afraid of getting singled out as the person who "tattled" on her school. Can you do it anonymously so it doesn't go back to her?

  • I'd definitely call the health department! Bugs can spread diseases- SERIOUS diseases! Yuck! Something needs to be done right away!
