Toddler's diaper smell like ammonia?

Recently my 16 mo sons diapers have been smelling like really strong ammonia. I use cloth diapers so there are no perfumes to cover the smell, but it has been really strong the last 24 hours.

Does anyone know what could be causing that strong smell? I was thinking maybe a little dehydrated but he's been drinking like normal. Oh and I would call the doc but he recently had surgery so he's referring to another office that was closed when I called this afternoon, so I figured I would ask to just get some insight.

Thanks everyone :)

  • Until you get him seen by a doc I highly recommend giving him cranberry juice to drink. It helps with bladder infections.
