I had some good tofu at the ala carte at the grocery store the other night.

I was looking for it later in the store and see different types (soft, firm, another texture)

Are different ones used to make different dishes?

  • The soft tofu is mainly used for desserts and the extra firm is used in main dishes, it really has no flavor but will absorb any flavor you give it.

  • Yes, firm is better for frying, baking, and grilling like a peice of meat. Soft is better to mix in things like instead of eggs for a breakfast burrito.

  • I use silken for pudding, extra firm for stir fries and stews.
