Questions about autism

I have no education on autism, and I am curious.

Do autistic kids use the rest room alone?

Do they need to be told to go?

Does it depend on the depth of their autism?

  • It depends on how severe the autism is, as well as where on the spectrum they lie. A high functioning person will be able to do everything someone who is not autistic can do.

  • Autism is made up of varying degrees of functionality . . . those on the lowest end of the spectrum can require help and guidance in the areas you mentioned, those at the highest end are just as capable as those without autism.

  • It depends on the severity of the autism. As the others have said, some that are higher functioning can do what any typical person can do.
