Did your pushing time decrease with each child?

Mine has so far. My first took just over an hour of pushing. My second was right around 20 mins. I am pregnant with my third, so we will see :)

I felt more in control and like I "knew what to do" in my second pregnancy.

  • I only have one, and I only pushed once and bam! There she was. I lucked out, I was only in active labor for 3 hours before delivering, I entered the hospital at 2 cm and within 4 hours she was crowning.. I'm pretty sure my doctor thought I was a freak of nature or something, seeing as he told me he's never seen that in 30 years of practice, and before hand told me I would be in labor for at least 10-12 hours. So I kind of hope it doesn't go faster if I have another! LOL

  • My first was 5lbs 12oz (my 1 hour pushing time), my second was 7lbs 5oz and was my shorter pushing time.

And collegemommy...I would be terrified next time I might not make it to the hospital! With my first I was in labor for 50 hours induced, and went from a 1 to a 10 in less than 20 minutes at the end. I thought I better not mess around if I know it is possible to go that fast next time, but my second progression was MUCH more the centimeter an hour they say is who knows!

  • 1st took 45 min pushing after 3 hrs of labor, 2nd was around 20 min after 2 1/2 hrs of labor, and 3rd was 2 pushes and he was out after 3 1/2 hrs of labor! On number 4 now and if it decreases each time then I better prepare for a home birth. lol I mean labor as counting from the first contraction I felt til I started pushing.
