Have you ever put your plastic shower curtain in the washing machine?

I'm looking at ways to get rid of the little mold that's coming up at the bottom of my curtain. Lots say to put the curtain in the washing machine. Has anyone tried this successfully? I'm afraid that it'll get torn in there. My daughter is very fond of the design so I'd hate to have to replace it. Is it safe to put it in? Does it work at getting rid of the mold?

  • I have and it turned out fine. You can always wash it in the sink and let it soak.

  • I did and it was fine. I used a lot of bleach. But it was just a liner, not one I cared about.

  • Yes! I do put mine in the washer with a couple of small towels and a little bit of bleach and after a good rinse I even put it in the dryer on low heat for like maybe 45 seconds and then I hang it up right away on the shower hooks to keep it from getting all wrinkled.

  • I do all the time!! I also put in a couple older towels, it helps rub the gunk off! I use bleach or a little comet powder! use a warm rinse and then hang up right away so it doesn't get all stiff and wrinkly!
