Losing weight after baby?

I've been nursing my son for 10 months now and have lost all my baby weigh and then some! My doctor says it's a myth that nursing causes weight loss...but I don't know! Seems like it does!! Anyone have an opinion?

  • goodI only nursed/pumped for a month and a half. I lost my baby weight really fast. I really think it depends on your body. Great for you though!! :)

  • Maybe that is true. But I think it is easier if you just don't gain much when you are pregnant and eat well but with small portions after the birth.

  • I'm nursing my 2 month old & have lost weight as well. Your doctor is not totally wrong, eating the 500 extra calories nursing mothers will help keep your weight consistent, however eating less will cause weight loss as your baby takes all your nutrition. I'm just now getting my appetite back, so I've seen some weight gain once again. The key is to find a balance between eating & nursing so you & your baby are happy & healthy.

  • I lost all mine and then some and I breast fed for a year. As soon as I stopped I gained a 10 lbs back. But I lost it when i kicked back up the excersises. I slacked cuse all the work was being done for me.

  • I'm smaller than I was before having my two kids. I've been a runner for years, but the thing that really made me small was the breastfeeding. It's a pretty nice perk!!
