How much $$, or what do you give your kid for loosing a tooth??

Hello everyone. My 5 year old daughter has her first loose tooth and I was wondering how much money the tooth fairy is doling out these days. Or for any moms that don't give money -- what do you do to make it special, etc.

My parents had me put mine on the kitchen counter with a cup overturned on it. lol I dunno why, I guess they couldn't put it under my pillow without waking me up.

I think I have 1-2 days before it finally falls out. Thank you!! :)

  • Wow! I remember getting a dollar at my Nanny's house (my mom's mom), but my parents gave us like $.50. lol. Then again, that was like 15-20 years ago (damn, that made me feel old.. I'm only 25! lol). I'd probably do a $1 or something. Or "gift certificates" for something (like an inexpensive toy or something).

  • Wow, I gave my oldest quite a bit for her first few teeth (they were surgically removed because of bottle rot) but now we are giving her .25 -$1 per tooth. It teaches her that she has to save up for what she wants instead of just one tooth getting her a new toy or clothes.. I don't spoil, I reward.

  • my DS hasn't lost any teeth yet but when I was little I remember only getting like a dollar, although a dollar was actually worth something back then. But I have a friend who doesnt give money, the tooth fairy gives pretty little things like hair accesories or anything that seems like a fairy would have. but she has a little girl, so I don't know how to make it fairy like for a boy. im thinking it would also be neat to sprinkle a little glitter fairy dust on the gift!

  • I give a dollar. My son lost 2 on the same day and gave him 5. My kids know now. My daughter just happen to loose 1 yesterday (shes 9), she asked me if she still had to put in under her pillow, I told her to leave it on the counter so I wouldnt forget, still forgot, i told her I would pay her when she got home, lol. Its a lot easier when they know
