Canned beans

Do ya rinse yours before cooking with them?

  • I always rinse my canned beans, but I've been cooking dried beans more lately. In regards to your other question - dried are always much cheaper than buying canned.

  • I soak mine overnight in the crockpot (turned off), then drain in the morning and add more water. Then just cook on low til done. Takes 8 hours or so.

  • I usually cook batches of dried beans for the week. I also buy frozen blackeyed peas, green beans, lima beans and pinto beans, which are the next best thing to cooking them fresh.
    In a pinch, I do use canned beans and yes, I always rinse them very well before using them to try to get rid of the corn syrup, sodium, etc that's in them.

  • thx ginger0104 ya i know i have tried them but for some reason they always seem longer to cook, way longer even when soaked...
