Are there any math lovers out there?(Update: Another question)

I need help with a problem. Math is my absolute worst subject! How do work out this problem?
-77 divided by -16= 4.81. I do not understand HOW to get that answer. Yes, I know that's sad. This is probably fifth grade stuff, but it's my weakness. lol. Thanks in advance for helping!
(I had no idea what to post this in, so I posted it in "Back to school" since it's school related.)

• Ahh...well 16 goes into 77, 4.81 times. Try it this way instead. 16 multiplied by 4 is 64. You cannot fit another "16" into the "77" without going over. What's left is 13. (this would work better if I could write it like the actual problem on paper, lol) You add a "0" to the 13...130. Now, how many times does16 go into 130? 8 (without going over, which equals 114). 130-114, is 16. That's where the 1 comes from.

• Double negatives equal a positive. Work the problem as if it said 77/16. :)

• A negative divided/added/multiplied by a negative is a positive answer

• Thanks for trying to help, but I know that part. Double=positive, opposite=negative. I just don't know how to get the actual numbers. lol

• EdwinsMommy, I have to disagree, yes a negative divided or multiplied does make it a positive, but if you add -1+-2 it = -3, but if you do -1-(-3) it will equal 2 so i thiink you got a little confused...

Annonymous, If you ever need anymore help Message me! I love math!

• Wait a second. I keep getting 128, not 114. Am I doing something wrong, or what? 16x8=128.

• Hmm, what did I click on the calculator to get that?! The rounded answer remains the same either way. The decimal is 4.8125. I' trying to figure out which finger slipped and hit the wrong key...I wasn't doing my own math, I was using my calculator :P My bad!
