  • My 4 yr old and 2 yr old can drink out of an open cup when we eat meals but they still use sippys(with a straw) when we are out somewhere or in the car. I think anything past 4 is too old.

  • Once again hubs in keeping them as young as possbile for as long as possible kept buying them when he realized I'd thrown them out. FINALLY - at 4 years old I said ENOUGH...do you want them going to kindergarten not knowing how to properly drink from a glass/cup? So for us it was 4. I think it could have been sooner.

  • My older 2 were about 2 when they stopped.  Hell they were just taking the lids off anyways.  My 1 year old can drink out of a regular cup.  They still get the plastic cups made for kids I just don't put the lids on them.

  • Use sippy cups when necessary, although try to stop as soon as possible. Sippy cups can have the same effects on our children's teeth as using a bottle too long or sucking the thumb.

  • My oldest was probably 3 1/2. My middle one never used one. Her big brother didn't have to, so she wouldn't. At 1 she drank from a regular cup. My youngest was 2.

  • my oldest was 2 years, but that was because I had a retarded doctor lol. We took her to the dr bc she was always throwing up after she drank stuff the dr said it was because she was drinking more than her tummy can handle he asked if I gave her a regular or sippy. I said both he said why. I told him I give her a regular cup bc I am trying to teach her to drink out of them I give her those at meal times and a sippy the rest of the day. He told me not to give her both give one or the other. So I gave her the regular cup, but she took a sippy like a bottle anyway she would have the thing in her mouth at all times. She took herself off a bottle at 9 months so she got formula in a sippy and she would take it like a bottle I think it wa sbc she took herself off a bottle so early. My youngest is 3 and she drinks out of a regluar cup, but when I get tired of cleaning up the spills she gets a sippy lol she still spills a lot
