When is milk alright?

I was curious when did other moms start giving their babies real milk?

  • Unless something different is specified by a doctor, start giving whole milk after the first birthday. At age 2, you can start going down to 2%, 1%, or skim.

  • DS was almost 12 months. We ran out of formula and I wasn't going to buy more for 3 weeks. DD was 18 months She was underweight and needed the extra calories in the formula.

  • My daughter was breast fed til she was 16 months, but we started giving her little bits of milk after her first bday to get her used to cups. My older two started when they turned one. My daughter though had to have Lactaid til she was almost 3 because she was lactose intolerant. Luckily she outgrew it.

  • A sip or 2 is not going to hurt. It's just that she needs the nutrition in formula or breast milk still. I introduced yogurt and cheese before a year.
