My eigh years old daugther want a laptop for her birthday, is she too young for a laptop?

  • My kid, no way. It would be lost or broken. No way. Not to mention unsupervised internet.

  • Yes, an 8 year old doesn't need a computer than can be used where she cannot be supervised.

  • Yes. I wouldn't even consider that sort of thing until my daughter is a teen and needs it for school or college. And by teen I mean 16-18.

  • Personally, I think that 8 years is much too young for a laptop. No child should have their own computer unless it is required for school purposes. (A lot of reports, research, etc) And even then I may not allow them to have one.

  • It would have been much too young for my kids. They only got a laptop (which they share) a year ago, and they'll be sixteen in a month. Then again, times are changing so it's ultimately your call.

  • If she is mature and you can afford it,go for it. Just like any type of electronic,limits should be placed though.

  • so if you get her a laptop at 8 what do you get her at say age 12 or 16? no do not give her a laptop just because she wants one..get her something more for her age
