  • as a daycare teacher i can tell you, that they will need help until they are 4-5 years old. some kids are able to do it earlier, some later.

  • I stopped when I could tell they were cleaning themselves properly. If by the time I got there they were clean then I didnt help anymore. My dd is 3.5 and Im in the same boat. Shes gets a bit frustrated bc I check but she still isnt getting it all clean. I figure better her be frustrated then have a nasty rash.

  • Mine was potty-trained by 2 1/2. She needed help until a little after her third birthday. Once she started preschool in August she started doing it herself and does fine with it now. Sometimes she'll call us to check, but most of the time she's fine doing it herself. I hardly know when she has a bm anymore.

  • aaarrrgggghhhh i have the same problem with my 3 year old, it is sooooo annoying yes i do love her to death but she makes me angry that she can't figure this out but she can use the vcr, the dvd, check the mail, speak 2 languages, tell a joke, buckle her carseat, unbuckle her car seat, wash her clothes, fold her clothes and pore her own milk~~~ BUT SHE CAN'T WIPE HER OWN BUTT,,,,,,, HELP!!!!!!

  • Do it as long as you can, Feces has so much germs in it, and can cause her to get sick, having her/him wash very well after is a plus....

  • Do you ever stop? I swear that I wiped my 8 year old daughter's butt a few weeks ago. But she had diarrhea and was having trouble. Kindergarten is our cut-off unless they are really having issues.

  • I would spot check them but I just told them to wipe and look at the paper and if there was poop on it wipe again and keep doing this until they dont see poop wipes are also a great help to them at this age.
