Do you think the USPS should eliminate Saturday services?

(not sure what category to stick this in since it's not really a debate issue)

  • I work for the USPS and I say no! lol. Jobs would be cut b/c a certain carriers job is to cover my route on my day off. We have a rotating schedule b/c of the six day week so lots of jobs would be in jeopardy, lots of jobs. Anyhoo, the USPS has downsized and eliminated routes per office to help. We are also bringing in flat sorting machines next month to eliminate office time and extend street time. We hope that helps to defray the costs the USPS is loosing. We are keeping our fingers crossed!

  • If it will save money and not really affect us ( I mean really can't we all go two days with no mail) then I say yes.

  • No, like most working people, I also work business hours and can't get to the post office if I need to on a weekday. Saturdays are my saving grace for services!

  • I do think it is a good idea. Think of all the money it would save.

  • I don't. I do a lot of trades for plants through the mail, and that would mean in most cases that they have to sit an extra day.

  • IF they did eliminate Saturday service, would this mean our mailing rates would remain the same for a much longer period of time? I would hate for service to stop on that day and still have to pay higher and higher postage like we have been.
