Anyone dumped cable and used free digital broadcast TV with the box thingy?

I'm reading on www.cancelcable.com how to ditch the cable bill and get most networks for free and then add Netflix or Hulu for movie watching...anyone doing this? Your experience? I guess you need to pick up the box and an antenna?

  • We have the box with the bunny ears but for me it's just not enough channels lol it's just the local ones and I miss all the shows that I used to watch when we had Comcast....but it got too expensive and hubby dumped it =( He bought the box and bunny ears from Walmart (I think it might have been $130 altogether and he just hooked everything up himself.....I miss cable though lol

  • I am sooooo glad that you asked this, because I have been wondering how to go about the same thing. I hate paying so much for cable!

  • We never had cable, when they did the digital switch we bought a cheapy converter box & a better set of bunny ears. We pick up almost all of the local channels for our local news (ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, etc), and yes, we have Netflix. $10/month for more tv than we need.

  • Fimmom, I am pretty sure it's just the local networks. Then you supplement with hulu or netflix for 10/month but you need a modern tv, I believe.
