  • To have a mid-range BMI I'd say 130-140lbs. But, so long as you're healthy, that's all that matters :)

  • Average or healthy? There's a big difference. It depends a lot on your build. You may want to try a BMI calculator. Generally speaking, a weight of about 135 for someone your height is considered 'ideal' but it depends so much on your build. If you want to loose weight though, I might suggest focusing more on diet and lifestyle changes rather than a number on a scale, since you don't have too much to loose. Good luck!

  • 5'5 med... Id say a nice healthy weight (depending on your age) is about 125-130... maybe more if your older.

Im basing that on what my healthy weight should be at 5'4", small build, 43 yrs.

  • Depends on your bone and muscle size. If your waist measurement is under 28", you're healthy. If it's over 31" you're overweight.

It's not a guaranteed scale (some women who have huge legs and butts still have really small waists) but it's the best indicator of problem weight gain, in health terms.

  • LOL @ lytate95 re: average vs. healthy... they are SO not the same any more. I think you want to strive for healthy NOT average!!!!!

  • Waist measurement for healthy women should be less than 35' not 28.
I'm 5'5 and weigh 148. I'm considered 'healthy' but I still have weight in my belly I want to lose. I think I'd lose the stomach around 135lbs. which is mid-range BMI

  • Wow that's crazy because I am 5'5 and weighed 163 exactly 3 months ago. I have lost 20 lbs and am now 143. I saw online that 130-145 is considered "normal" for a height of 5'5 and when I was 163, I was in the overweight range.
