When you go out to eat or eat as a guest at someones house do you

place your napkin on you lap or do you do it in general or not at all

  • Depends on the restraunt. If it's nicer and has cloth napkins I put them in my lap. But if it's a regular paper napkin I usually just leave it by my plate. Usually when I go to a friends house it's bbq style so I have a paper napkin in the hand that holds the plate.

  • i keep the napkin on the table and pick it up when necessary. i never got the napkin on the lap thing, to me it makes more sense to wear it on your chest as a bib because a food stain is more noticeable on your chest than on your pant or skirt.

  • I always put a napkin on my lap, even when eating at mcdonalds or at home. I was brought up with table manners.
