weird sounds

My 6 month old makes grunting like sounds when her hands are in her mouth and even when they're not. She absolutely does not have a cold...she just likes to make this weird kind of choking sound...hopefully its a phase and will pass ..she's done this for about 2 days or so on and off during the day...it makes me wonder why she does this...has anyone else experienced this?

  • She is exploring what new sounds she can make. My daughter still does it. Try to show her something new, like the airplane noise with your lips

  • My DD just started doing this a couple of days ago. My husband keeps running over thinking she's choking and she just smiles. I'll be checking back with this one to see if anyone has an answer.

  • Start teaching her other sounds and she may like them better. She is trying to communicate and has realized that adults do this by talking, so she is doing her best at talking as well. My daughter learned this strange hooting thing from my son and I cannot distract her from that one. She hooted all through his Thanksgiving play at school.
