Moral Crisis or budget crisis?

Congress can seriously debate forcing veterans into homelessness and cutting food aid to pregnant women and children, while giving huge tax breaks to billionaires is there something wrong? I'd like to hear some of you that believe this is the right thing to do explain why.

Well, OP, IMHO we all did. We were comfortable to let the elected officials go to DC and do what they do without checking in from time to time. We weren't diligent and voting in the best just the ones who had the most glitz. We langered while they become braver. Little bills here; little bills there. No one sat up and said no. The padded the pork, passed the bills; still we said nothing. Now, we pay the price for our lack of oversight. The gov't is us and not them. We elected people to do a job, but we didn't supervise. We'll get through this. We won't let it happen again.

  • Money to get elected is supplied by businesses and billionaires. In exchange for said money, those elected are now indebted to the businesses and billionaires. The politicians pay back the debts via legislation and policies enacted. Poor people do nothing lucrative for politicians, so they take the hit. Dollars and cents, and the rich keep getting richer. They have most of the money and the power of politicians in their hands.

Let's be clear OP, it's politicians from ALL political parties that play this game-

I don't know about the Congress forcing anyone into homelessness or taking food from pregnant women AND children, but the tax breaks were to companies and states as favors for supporting Obamacare. I bet if you follow the trail backwards, you will find it everytime. GE is PBO's pet. He cut them a deal early on.

  • I agree. There's definitely something wrong with that.

  • Failing businesses should be allowed to fail. The IRS and the tax code need to tossed in the garbage can and a new fair tax implemented...make it short and simple.

  • Jess even the so-called "mother of all bailouts,"$700 billion taxpayer dollars. AND his ungodly amount in tax cuts for the very wealthy? seems to be a secular trend. I'd like to know what put us in this predic.
