Do you have poisonous spiders?

We have black widows everywhere in the desert. I walk around the yard, laundry room, and garage with a can of hairspray. When you see the spider, spray it with the hairspray. As it hardens, so does the spider.

  • That is fabulous! And the spider dies? :) We have a ton of black widows, too, and they seem to be impervious to the regular bug spray.

  • Yes,those brown recluse ones. A guy I worked with almost died from a bite from one. He came close to losing his hand from infection

  • We sure do have them here. I want to literally hug your neck right now! I am deathly afraid of spiders (even tiny ones). I'm going to stock up on hairspray now. Thanks so much.

  • We have black widows, wolf spiders, and brown recluses everywhere where I live. It scares me to let me kids go play outside. I watch their every move. Hairspray is a nice trick :) I have used it before.

  • is it any hairspray or the aerosol kind? We have brown recluse, black widows and who knows what else here.

I have used both kinds, aerosol and pump. Aerosol tends to dry faster, I think.

  • Ewww. Are they in the house?

  • Great idea! We have black widows, brown widows, and scary (but not particularly poisonous to humans) giant wolf spiders.

Next time, I'll try hair spray.
