Have you signed up for the missing NYC cobra's tweets?

A tongue-in-cheek Twitter user giving "updates" on a missing deadly Egyptian cobra now has some 154,000 followers.

The 20in (50cm) venomous snake escaped from New York City's Bronx Zoo on Friday, and is yet to be found.

In one tweet, BronxZoosCobra says: "On top of the Empire State Building! All the people look like little mice down there. Delicious little mice."

In its Twitter account, The Bronx Zoo - which has some 8,000 followers - admits it is currently "the snake's game".

  • Haha! Bummer for the "tweeter", he'll have to find another missing animal to tweet about!

  • No to the tweets. Yes to the fact that the snake was caught. It hadn't gone far when it went missing too, was curled up in/under something a room or two away, I do believe. It's hard for me to catch all of any news story with two kids running amok in my house all the time.

  • Nope, I didn't figure he would make it all the way out to Oklahoma, so I didn't really care where he was.
