Reality star paid more than Pulitzer prize winner for speaking engagement?

Rutgers: The place where reality-show fame gets you more money than a Pulitzer Prize.

Jersey Shore's favorite self-described guidette was featured in a Q&A session Thursday on Rutgers' campus. Snooki – known legally as Nicole Polizzi, but no one actually calls her that – spoke to a total of 1,000 lucky students at two sessions. Her fee, for an easy few hours of work: $32,000. We'll give that to you once more. For two hours of banter about smushing and fist pumping, she earned $32,000.

  • How sad. Boy this speaks volumes about today's society though.

I don't watch that kind of junk..not much tv at all. I am extremely picky about what I let my kids watch.

  • It's a sad commentary on our society, but it doesn't surprise me at all - especially when you consider the difference in a teacher's salary and the salary of a professional athlete.

  • Charlie Sheen was being paid a million an episode for his dreadful show , then went on strike because he wanted a 50% increase .

None of these people are worth the money they are paid , they represent the worst of duming down entertainment and money grubbing . they are as bad as investment bankers . I just hope they don't get away with tax evasion and avoidance as easily as bankers do and don't have to be bailed out by taxpayers .

  • Snooki--I like her look. She is cute. However, I would not pay $55 to see her as some in my area are doing. She's "hot" now, as Paris Hilton would say, but the Pulitzer lasts forever. I imagine that over the long haul the Pulitzer Prize winner will earn more than the young flash in the pan.
