  • Gas heats instantly, you have to wait for electric to heat up. Gas is off immediately, with electric, there is still residual heat on the burner. Gas can be variated to just the degree of temp you need, whereas electric ususlly has only 3-6 different notches. All professional chefs, myself included, like to use gas because it gives a better quality, with more control. But for a home kitchen, an electric glass top or ceramic top is much easier to keep clean.

  • that's a toughy. electric heats more quickly and cooks more evenly. gas you can cook a hotdog over the flame. gas the heat turns off right away while electric doesn't so you have to take the cook wear off the stove right away. gas you can cook in a power outage...i care a bit more about the quality of the cooking rather than convenience so i'll say electric

  • Ive always heard gas is better & it seems it would be better.
But we have always lived in places that have electric.
I hate the coils cuz they move. IDK how many times ive turn a stove on to boil water only to realize in 30min water still isnt boiling cuz the connections where not connected! and sometimes they move/tilt & it can move your pan. annoying! also the slow cooldown sucks.
