  • Are you asking what to buy for a baby shower gift or as a mom what would you buy?

  • as a mom

  • diapers, onesies, sleepers, wipes, zinc oxide for diaper rash, a few bibs/lightweight blankies/receivers.

  • As a mom, buy stuff that is a little big because you will be amazed at how fast they grow. With my daughter, she's a little smaller than normal kids, so she's 16 months old and is still wearing her 12 month clothes. It's just kind of a play it by ear thing and go with the flow!

  • I would go online and google "essential items to have for a newborn." Scale it down to your own needs because you really don't need EVERYTHING they suggest. Also, ask your nurse what they provide at the hospital so that you know what to bring and what not to bring.

  • Lola, good idea with the hospital thing. Thanks!

  • Well, as a mom preparing for a baby due in July I have bought and am going to also get:

    Crib/Mattress/Bedding set (blanket and sheets)
    Diapers/Wipes/Changing Station
Clothes from Newborn-12 months (onesies, sleepers, rompers)
    Bath Sling/Baby Bath
Baby Bath Stuff (lotion, powder, body wash, baby brush)
    Clippers/Bulb Syringe

If you are bottle feeding you'll need bottles and stuff like that.. I'm BFing so I got a pump, pads, boppy.
There's probably more, but I can't see it from here.. lol

  • What about for clothes? I have everything I need (I think) but clothes have been a hard thing for me because I know it all depends on how fast my daughter grows.

  • malicon drops, tylenol, nail clippers, You never get it at showers but you will need it and prob at 2 am

Answer by my4boys310 at 7:41 PM on Apr. 2, 2011

  • Everything they need.
I don't give infants Tylonal or chemical gas drops. There are natural ways to relieve fevers and gas.
Things that I found essential were burp cloths (Cloth diapers work the best, but not the thicker fabric ones), Playtex Drop-In Bottles, and blankets. (Homemade)
