Help with a math question!! :)

Im taking a test for school, and i havent done problems like this in SOO long, please help me out, i need to figure out how i got the answer as well. And ill continue to study, just would help if i had the answer to figure out how i got it! :)

2 Percent of jazz records sold in April were from a new Label. About how many records were from the new label?
a-80
b-800
c-40
d-400

(The amount of records sold in Aprill is about 1,800)

  • 1800 Times 2% is 36 so the answer would be C 40 is the closest

  • 1800 divided by 100, times 2 gives you the 2%.

  • Turn it into an equation... .02 (2 percent) x (of) 1800 (number of records sold in april) = n (your answer)
    so you get .02 x 1800 = n
    do the equation 36=n

    so it would be c. 40

  • Turn it into another equation... 1/7 x n = 1500
    times both sides by 7 to get n alone n=10,500
    so the answer is b: 10500
