My DD is so impatient!!

How can I help to be more patient and calm down when she gets that way?

  • My oldest had a lot of success with breathing exercises. Also you have to teach her what patience is, instead of simply using that word find situations where you can tell her she needs to wait 30 seconds until you can help her, get her a drink, peel her orange ect. Then when she waits for you to do it, praise the heck out of her and tell her how great she was at being patient. In the beginning you have to keep the waiting periods short because kids have zero sense of time and are so used to everything just happening for them.

  • Explain what patience is. Have realistic expectations of her. You might even do some breathing exercises and stretching together. Make it fun and do it together.
