Does anyone know how to make authentic taco meat?

I have tried several times, and almost have it,, I hate those taco seasoning packets, I want the hamburger to taste like the kind in tacos from an authentic place,, the meat isn't too spicy, do you think they might boil it?

  • I do my own because I don't like how salty the packets are. I don't really measure I season by smell. (maybe weird IDK) I brown lean ground beef, add garlic powder, onion powder, ground cumin, chili powder. Just add by small amounts till you get the right aroma. Good luck.

  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
    1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
    1/4 teaspoon onion powder
    1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
    1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
    1/2 teaspoon paprika
    1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
    1 teaspoon sea salt
    1 teaspoon black pepper
    add a half cup water, & seasoning to taste bring to boil

  • I remember my mother made the best, but I don't even remember it being spicy like those packets. I just use onion, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and cumin.
