Healthy Snacks

Any recipes for some healthy snacks?

  • I like to go to our local health food store and grab raw bars... like granola bars.

  • Great way to use up bananas going squishy - put them in a bowl or coffee mug, drizzle on honey and microwave it for about a minute, then stir it up. Sprinkle on some cinnamon and let it cool a little before serving.

  • Butter
    1/2 of a 10-ounce package large marshmallows (18) or 3 cups tiny marshmallows
    1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
    3 tablespoons tablespoons butter
    3 cups round roasted oat cereal, puffed corn cereal, or chocolate-flavored puffed cereal
    1/2 cupcandy-coated chocolate pieces, candy-coated peanut butter and chocolate pieces, or peanut butter flavored pieces
    1/4 cup chopped peanuts

    grease baking pan with butter

    put marhmallows, peanut butter and 3 tablespoons butter in saucepan. Put saucepan on med-low heat. Cook until marshmalows melt strring all the time. remove from heat Add the candy pieces and peanuts. spoon mixture in to baking pan press down with buttered fingers .Cool. then cut into bars. ENJOY!!

    The candy pieces can be traded out for small cut up pieces of fruit if you like.

  • 2 1/2 cups cubed,seeded watermelon, cantaloup or honeydew melon
    1/2 cup fresh or frozen raspberries thawed
    1/4 cup sugar
    1 tablespoon lemon juice
    measuring cups
    measuring spoons
    8 3 ounce paper or plastic cups or pop molds
    8x8x2 or 9x9x2 inch baking dish(if using drink cups)
    foil
    small sharp knife
    wooden sticks

    Put the melon raspberries sugar and lemon juice in the blender. blend on high til smooth
    pour blended fruit mixture into cups of molds. Put cups in baking pan. cover each cup or mold with foil. Use knife to make a small hole in center of foil.Slide wooden stick through the hole into the fruit mixture in cup
    Put baking pan or pop molds in the freezer until frozen then remove the the foil and cups/molds ENJOY!!

  • By the way those recipes came from the Better Homes And Gardens "New Junior CookBook" just wanted to let you know b/c they are things that you could do with kids if you have them. If you'd like more treats recipes that you could do with them let me know i'll give you more

  • Hummus and veggies. I use this recipe:  http://www.dedemed.com/index.php/Vegetarian-Recipes/Hummus.html without the citric acid, and with a little cumin
