Can you get unemployement if you were fired?

The official reason given was not preforming his duties adequately.

  • My brother was denied because he was fired for performance. It depends on the the supervisor says to the unemployment office.

  • you can file but no telling if he will get it or not.. Fired or quit is the same process here. You are penalized for 10 weeks and the employer can fight the claim. If the employer shows good cause you will most likely not get unemployment..

  • You can, depending on the reason you were terminated. Sometimes they do assess a waiting period.

  • i would file and see they cant do anymore than say no. where im at, when my dh got fired, he was approved for unemployment a few days after he filed.

  • I think it really depends on the person on the case with the unemployment commission. He can file but the employer will probably appeal. If they do, there will be a hearing and the person assigned to the case will have to decide if he gets it or not. I know this because my husband was let go from a job because basically his boss didn't like him. My husband was never written up and met all of his deadlines, never gave a problem. Anyway, they let him go so he filed for unemployment. They appealed saying he got fired for not meeting deadlines. They couldn't prove he didn't meet his deadlines so the person assigned to his case gave him unemployment.
