Olive oil vs. Veggie oil

Does anyone still use Veggie oil instead of cooking with olive oil if so why? I started using olive oil about a year ago after reading the benefits etc.. so I put down the veggie oil and seems to be going well. It's much better for you then veggie oil too. Try it!

  • I know it's better for me.. but I have to get used to the taste.. also is pricier.. :) i guess I could switch. But I do use canola which is healthier than vegetable but not as healthy as olive.

  • I hate the taste as well! YUCK, however with spices you can't taste it AT ALL.. Let it just u cook and add your spices and you will see. Also, yes it does cost more, but also goes on sale alot and with coupons you can get a great deal, besides you only need very little to cook with, so it all works out in the end. Good luck

  • I don't cook with oil. I'll use a bit of olive oil if I roast a bird, but otherwise I cook with butter or nothing.

  • there are many different olive oils. From Extra Virgin to Warm press/cold press all used for different applications as they all taste completely different.
I use coconut oil to sear meats prior to roasting, I use canola or veg oil in baking, and I have about 5 different olive oils for different things.

  • I use all different kinds of oils, I feel they each have their own benefits/uses. I like to pop my stovetop popcorn and cook pancakes with canola, cook almost any dish that starts with sauteed onions in olive oil, cook most oriental dishes with sesame oil and I use vegetable oil to season my wok and cast iron pan, and occationally cook with. I wish it wasn't soy bean oil though.
