Why in movies do they always portray the irish as abusive?

  • It dates back to the turn of the last century. At one point, a main immigrant population was irish. They lived in tenements, while they tried to make a life here. They were looked down upon, seen as dirty, dumb, and violent. There was a huge prejudice.

    Some of that old prejudice has been passed down through the three to four generations.

    It is a good lesson for all of us. Even when equal rights have been achieved, there will be "shadows" of the past for a long time to come.

  • Cause they have hella tempers? LOL. I'm partly irish as you can see by my sons red hair. He is a very laid back guy but don't piss him off!! ROFL

  • I didn't notice that..I did notice that they usually have attitude problems, but I'm part Irish, and well most Irish do... not all of them do of course.
