2 Bumps

Stinging nettle- HELP

my 15 month old took off on me and fell into a patch of stinging nettle. He has red bumps all over his back and arms. I don't have calamine lotion. I feel so bad. What do I do?

  • Stinging nettles are an acid, so you need to balance it with an alkaline Try to avoid grabbing the infected area's as you could just transfer the small hairs causing the sting to the rest of your body. Other "cures" include: Baking soda or other alkaline products such as cucumber, parsley, celery, lettuce or avacado. Take a small amount on rub gently and slowly onto the sting.

  • You neutralize it with an alkaline- baking soda works well. Make a paste out of it, it will fix him right up. Meanwhile, a dose of Advil/motrin/ibuprofen will kill swelling, and take some of the pain away.
    I feel his pain, that stuff is nasty!! I got into it more than a few times as a kid.
