Custody battle and the step parent is the only one that cares about children's happiness

i have contacted cps several times to interview the girls and child advocate both saying no abuse however as soon as the 7 year old and 5 year old girls seen me on the day of their evaluation at child advocate and ran to me jumped in my arms and the 7 year old that i hadn't seen since last september said i love u miss u please let me live with u in front of cps and cyac no one will take the time to see what mental anguish they are put through what can i do because the father won't do anything at all i am doing and he may reap all the benefits because im just the step parent according to the law and i have no legal rights

  • The benefits that the father may or may not reap is not the consideration. It is the children. Do what you can for them no matter who else benefits. They are the ones we want to benefit.

  • yes i do feel that if a step parent is the only one that cares about the children and has been in their lives for several years and is the only one that cares about the best interest of the children and cares enough to listen to what they want yes i do feel i should have legal rights to them but that is not the immediate issue these children are being abused and noone is listening to them

  • you are a step parent but you are the ONLY one who cares - that means you married someone who doesnt care about his kids... nice! well you opened that can of worms, keep fighting for the kids, without abuse they rarely remove kids.
