What are your thoughts on very conflicting positions/lifestyles... hypocritical parenting

my meaning is

a mom who refuses to vaccinate but then has her 12 day old babies ears pierced at Walmart

Or the organic feeding only mom whose kids don't wear bike helmets

and so on

  • If I think they are being hypocritical I will call them out on it! (Nicely of course) And ask them why.

  • I have enough trouble parenting my own 4 kids I can't worry about how other people parent theirs.

  • As long as they are not shoving thier ideals down my throat I don't care what choices they make with thier kids.

  • It doesnt bother me until they start trying to tell me how to raise MY kids (yeah I'm talking to you MIL lol) then it's hard for me not to say something....but on a regular basis I don't really care...there isnt just one way to parent..we're all just trying to do our best.

  • I think everyone has their own hot button issues and their own take on what is important and what's negotiable. Just because it seems to be a conflict of ideologies to you or me, doesn't mean they see it the same way. I'm sure the people I look at and scratch my head, look at me and do the same.

Since my son was born almost 9 years ago, I've learned to just nod and smile...and not really be so concerned about how other people elect to parent their children.

  • And one is perfect. There isn't a mother who does everything perfectly 100% of the time. Anyone who says they do is lying. They can TRY 100% of the time, but as for achieving it...I doubt it.

  • Don't waste your time worrying about other people, just as they shouldn't be worrying about you and your parenting.

Answer by Anonymous at 3:42 PM on Apr. 5, 2011

  • I'm another 'to each there own.' The only parenting I can be responsible for is my own!

  • Eh, I'd have written off the other woman as a troll and been glad I wasn't at her house when the coffee kicked in in her child.
