6 Bumps

Playing on the sympathies of the bleeding hearts. Does anyone buy it?

On Monday during a photo opportunity for the Hunger Fast Coalition, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said the Republican budget will force seniors into starvation. The former House Speaker also used "the Gospel" to justify more government spending.

"In one of the bills before us, six million seniors are deprived of meals -- homebound seniors are deprived of meals. People ask us to find our common ground, the middle ground. Is middle ground three million seniors not receiving meals? I don't think so. We've got to take this conversation from a debate about numbers and dollar figures and finding middle ground there to the higher ground of national values. I don't think the American people want any one of those six million people to lose their meals or the children who are being thrown off of Head Start and the rest of it."

"When I hear you speak about this issue, of course it's the Gospel of Matthew: When I was hungry, he gave me to eat and the rest of it goes on. And when I hear Reverend Wallis talk about priorities, I can't help but think about the fact that in these same budgets, we are talking about, they give tens of billions of dollars in subsidies to Big Oil to drill when they are making a trillion dollars over 10 years in profits, that we are giving tax breaks to companies to send jobs overseas. We're doing that as we say to seniors, homebound seniors: "You no longer will have food coming to you in your homes."

  • Same song different verse. The Dems will be so surprised when nothing they say or do works this time.

  • Oh Lord has she not gone away yet? No, I don't buy it. At least we know what the Democratic talking points are. "They are going to starve babies and old people"

  • Didn't she also say at one point something like "we have to pass a bill to see what's in it.", and when promoting obamacare "how great it would be for artists to just be able to concentrate on their art and not have to worry about paying for health care". She just talks to hear the sound of her own voice. I doubt that anyone really takes anything she says seriously.

  • Yeah, yeah, yeah.....blah, blah, blah! And, at every election cycle, the dems scream that the repubs will 'end Soc. Sec. and Medicare' even though it is the dems who have excoriated the trust funds for each of them. The repubs put in a 7% COL in Soc. Sec. for 7 years. That doesn't sound like the repubs are going to starve anyone. But, if they are allowed to implement some ideas, they just might save the entitlements.

Reverend Wallis nailed it. He's absolutely right.
And yes, every election cycle and legislative session, the conservatives try their damndest to do away with SS and medicare and medicaid and WIC and any other social program that they think they can get away with.

And we would all love to see the stories and the original sources that link to this tired old assertion dredged up by the leftists among us.

That's because of the ideological differences between the parties!

Conservatives/Republicans foster an "I can do it myself" attitude and a belief that if one WANTS to be successful and make their OWN way in life that the opportunities in this country are plentiful!!

Liberals/Democrats/Progressives foster the belief that one should be forever dependent on others--particularly the government--from cradle to grave, victimhood, and "make as many mistakes as you want--no need to be responsible--we'll pick up the pieces, and fill your world with butterflies and rainbows!"

Could it be that there is massive REDUNDANCY and OVERSPENDING among social welfare agencies, that a little fiscal pruning would result in MORE benefits actually reaching those TRULY in need?!
