  • I also nurse my baby and recently started on solids. We kinda slipped into somewhat of a routine. He wakes at 6:30 a.m. nurses and goes back to sleep until about 8-8:30. I then feed him breakfast..usually oatmeal and a fruit about an hour later he nurses for a little while. Then between noon and 1:00 I feed him a yo baby yogurt. about an hour after that, he nurses for awhile.Around 5-6pm I give him a dinner of a veggie and a fruit. about an hour later, he nurses. He then nurses before bedtime, between 9-10 pm. Then he nurses throughout the night of course.
So I have found, he's ready to nurse about an hour after every solid meal.
Good Luck! I know its hard to figure out..can be super confusing, lol.

  • Until he's a year old, you ALWAYS nurse (or feed bottle) first. No solids until he's nursed. Other then that, you can follow his lead.

  • Kimberly, be careful. I worry when moms do solids before nursing. If he's nursing enough, and gaining, and meeting milestones, etc, I guess it's ok to continue doing what works for you, but typically, you DON'T want to have them fill up on solids prior to nursing.
