Is the government shutting down?

my so's grandma called and said the government is shutting down this friday. she's worried because she's 80 and gets social security. i don't know much about the government. it's confusing to me. so if you can please explain if this is true or what is going on it would help. thanks.

  • Many government workers (including my hubby) and everyone in the military will be required to work, but will not get paid.

    Who know how long it will last until they finally agree on a balanced budget. And then, they will start to issue back-pay for everyone but it could take months!

    Most of America cannot live for months without a paycheck!!!

    Actually, wasn't there just a delay in NEW CLAIMS, but not in existing recipients?

  • The Govt workers WONT get paid. But congress and the Senate WILL get their pay. SS WONT stop, nor will irs refunds.

  • Last time it ' shut down' , the military and social security recipients were paid , according to CNN.
