  • He should respect you enough to stop, but if he's not, then there isn't much you can do. It's kinda like leading a horse to water, but you can't make them drink.

  • Does he realize that children GROW-UP to become what they live--hear--watch? Teachers at my DD's school were talking about how they know exactly what a child's home-life is like by how they behave at school. Whether that be cursing, lack of manners, table manners, dis-respect, bullying, whatever --- Is that seriously what he WANTS for his kids?

  • He should realize that he cant be talking like that around little kids because they will start to talk just like him and you should have a serious talk with him explaining everything .

  • Swear jar! Start charging him money any time he swears around the kids! I'd also throw the nudge of 'swearing makes you sound unintelligent'. I'd suggest giving a list of euphemisms, but I have the feeling that wouldn't solve the problem either. (Though I do rather hear my dd say 'aw, coconuts!' instead of 'son of a b****'.)

Look on the positive side: At least your in-laws aren't intentionally /trying/ to teach your kids to swear because they think it's cute. Can't stand my SFIL... I never wanted to punch a grown man so much in my life.
