  • Depends what time you want your 4 yr old to wake up. Mine has to get up at 6:30 so we can get him dressed, fed and off to school so he goes to bed between 7:30 and 8 pm during the week. On weekends sometimes he gets to stay up a little later.

  • Depends how long your 4 year old sleeps, and at what time you want them up. When mine was 4 he slept for about 8-10 hours and had to be up at 7:30am for school, so he went to bed around 9-9:30pm. I didn't want him up at 6am. When we start kindergarten in the fall he'll go to bed around 8pm because he has to be up earlier and K is all day, as oppose to half day like now. On weekends he's always been up with me till about 10-11pm, regardless of age, because then he sleeps in on Sat/Sun till about 10am. I've never had to do the 5-6am thing with him, or considered "sleeping in" 7am.

  • I think it depends on your lifestyle too. As long as the child gets their (approximate full) 12 hours of sleep and is well rested then it should be fine. (heaven forbid no midnite! lol) My son just turned 5 in December and his schedule would sometimes get sporatic. They changed the start time of his preschool from 830a to 9:10am so now he is able to stay up 1 hour later than usual, 9pm and still gets up in time at 8am to get dressed for preschool.

  • I'd say 8pm and I have been trying to get mine to go to bed at that time & its hard she just keeps getting up with excuses doesn't want to sleep, its going to be lots of fun when Kindergarten comes! its been a struggle.

  • My 3 1/2 year olds go to bed around 8:30 or 9, but they still take a 2 hour nap every day. When they stop napping we'll likely move bedtime a bit earlier.
