Waking your child up to go potty at night?

Does waking your child up at night to use the bathroom work in helping them to wake up on their own to use the bathroom?

My daughter (almost 5) is a very heavy sleeper and wets nightly.

  • My DD's dr told us to do it, he said it would train her body to wake up and go by herself. She goes to bed at 8 so everynight at 12 or 1 while I'm up with the baby I go take her to the potty and put her back to bed. It works for us, she's not had an accident in 4 months(she'll be 5 in Oct.). Some nights she wakes up by herself to go.

  • Not yet, unfortunately. I put pulls ups at nite on my 4 year old and every morning when she wakes up they are wet even if she pees before going to bed.

  • I used to wake my kids up every two hours to potty. They were still wet by morning! I gave up and used pull ups.

  • I did not wake my child up to go potty. Was not even recommended by anyone.
