Government Shut Down?

My DH works for the federal government. He may not have a job after today. I hate not knowing. We live in northern Virgina, just outside Washington, DC. I don't think those in office understand what will happen. This area will come to a halt. While we will be good for a short time(I am a SAHM), I hope it does not drag on.
Hay, I just had an idea. While the government is shut down, no taxes should be collected!
Is anybody else out there that is affected by the impending shut down?

  • Legally the Congress gets paid and they can not change a sitting Congresses pay. But if they realy want to reduce the money the government spends, they could give it all back.

  • All of this could be settled with a little compromise. Let me guess, the ones who let the government shut down will still get paid. Like the ones who set minimum wage get paid a nice salary. The ones who want to take away health care have a nice package they don't have to pay for. If the government shuts down, they should make sure all of these representatives who are talking about cuts should cut their pay too.
