  • Are you sure your child is latched on well. Letdown should not be painful. At least I have never heard anyone say it was painful. When it happened for me I felt a warm flushing for a second or two but not 'torture".

  • I'm going to give you a bump. Interested if anyone else has ever felt pain on letdown. My instinct initially is to advise you to talk to a lactation specialist or contact Le Leche League.

  • letdown certainly isn't comforatble...it kinda hurts a little for a minute. but if it's really painful, i'd talk to a doctor. www.tulipandthelma.com

  • Its been a good 3yrs since i nursed. but on occasion letdown can hurt a lil'.
Usually if i remember right i was usually a bit engorged or went a bit too long without nursing.
If it always hurts or is *REALLY PAINFUL* it may be a bit more serious & you may want to see a lactation consultant-- you can visit your dr. but if they just say "stop nursing it will go away"... RUN & dont look back!.. Most problems can be solved with the right knowledge!

    Good Luck! :)

  • It will get better with time! Usually by about 2 months letdown isn't as noticeable, if at all.
